Members of the Irish American Business Chamber visited the White
House in Washington, DC on Monday to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
Minister Hoctor was first elected to Dail Elreann in 2002, re-elected in May 2007 and appointed Minister of State with responsibility for Older People at the Department of Health and Children, June 2007. The Minister is a graduate of Maynooth and prior to becoming a full time politician was a secondary school teacher of Religious Education & Irish and Social Studies at St. Joseph's CBS Secondary School, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.

As a Deputy, Maire was Vice Chair of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture & Food, Government Convenor of the Joint Oireachtaas Committee on Justice, Equality, Defence & Women's rights and a member of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education & Science.

On Sunday, March 9th, members of the IABCN came out to participate in the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Members of the chamber spent the afternoon riding in the trolley or marching along side handing out candy to parade goers.  Board members in attendance were Dan Cronin and family, Jack Kelly and his wife, Jim Logue and family, board president Jim McLaughlin and board chairman Bill McLaughlin.  The chamber would like to give a special thanks to its sponsor the Plough and Stars Restaurant.

The evening reception was co-hosted by the Irish, French, German, British and Chilean Chambers of Commerce.

The president of CBS 3 Michael Colleran and renowned local newscasters, Larry Mendte and Kathy Orr, were guest speakers at the event. Mr. Colleran welcomed guests to the new home of CBS 3 and to the reception lounge built specifically for community functions.
